Belgium

You will find easy cycling paths along previous railroads (Ravel), canals and rivers, while parts of East Belgium are quite hilly. The scenery and variations in the landscape are beautiful and exciting.

The price level is relatively low. Accomodations are easy to find. Good cycling maps can be found on Internet, at tourist offices or in book stores. In many regions you will find road crossings marked with a number, telling you where you are on the corresponding map.

Several routes with 1-2 day visits to Belgium are found under Netherlands and Longer Routes.

Cycling route suggested:

The route below examplifies how nice bike paths and nice places can be combined into a vacation trip. The route is defined both with an electronical map (Strava) and as a series of fietsknooppunten.

The route can be modified suiting your own needs and interests; most vacations are improved by longer stays (2-3 days) in some places.

The route is not recommended in winter, due to the risk of ice on cycling paths. Please remember travel insurance, lock your bicycles, and keep your luggage safe.
